For the many out-of-state students who attend NAU, traveling back home can be difficult in terms of logistics and affordability. In a recent email, FlixBus public relations manager Albert Aydin announced that the long-distance bus service has added a new stop near the NAU campus for students and Flagstaff residents.
"We feel it’s important to give students an affordable travel option during a time where transportation may already be limited as it is,” the email read.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, Aydin said there are several new health and safety protocols that all FlixBuses are required to follow. These include required face coverings for all passengers over the age of two, frequent cleanings and a digital passenger check-in system. Bus drivers are also required to wear face coverings and gloves at all times. Similar to Flagstaff’s Mountain Line bus and NAU campus buses, the first several seats will be left empty to avoid close proximity between passengers and bus drivers. The FlixBus website provides more in-depth information regarding the company’s new protocols and additional stops.
The Flagstaff bus stop will board on the west side of the Flagstaff Visitor Center, off of Route 66. For information regarding specific FlixBus stops visit the bus line’s website.
