Bart Graves, the media relations specialist for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS), stated via email that an officer-involved shooting occurred at approximately 8:15 Friday morning. The incident developed roughly 2 miles east of Flagstaff on Interstate 40 near the Walnut Canyon exit.
At around 10 a.m. Friday morning, traffic was clogged past the West Butler Avenue exit on I-40, heading east. All eastbound lanes were closed shortly thereafter at 10:20 a.m., according to the Arizona Daily Sun.
"The highway is closed at milepost 204, although traffic heading eastbound can reenter I-40 after exiting at 204," Graves' email stated.
Graves added that no trooper was injured in the incident, and AZDPS is organizing an active investigation.
Charles Hernandez, public relations officer for the Flagstaff Police Department (FPD), reported that FPD officers also responded to assist with the scene.
