Police Beat April 23 to May 7: Burglary, bicycle theft and a bomb threat

April 23

At 8:30 a.m., NAUPD received a call from an alarm company regarding a burglary alarm at Biological Sciences. Officers responded, and the alarm was found to be caused by an employee.

At 12:37 p.m., a student at Reilly Hall called to report the theft of a bicycle. NAUPD responded and took a report.

At 4:24 p.m., staff at North Hall reported two non-students causing a disturbance. NAUPD responded and identified the subjects, who left campus. No criminal activity was witnessed.

April 24

At 2:48 p.m., a student at the SkyView parking garage called to report a vehicle parked in the middle of the garage. NAUPD responded, and the owner was contacted and advised to move the vehicle.

April 25

At 1:14 p.m., a student at The Suites reported another student sleeping on the ground outside. NAUPD responded and learned the student was threatening suicide. The student voluntarily went to campus health services.

At 11:39 a.m., a staff member at the Drury Inn & Suites called to report a subject trespassing. NAUPD responded, and the non-student left the area as requested.

April 26

At 12:35 p.m., a non-student at The Suites reported they were stuck in an elevator. NAUPD responded, and the subject was able to exit the elevator. No mechanical issues were observed, and the elevator was in working order.

April 27

At 12:58 a.m., NAUPD reported finding a debit card and passport that belonged to a non-student off campus. The items were returned to the owner.

At 4:34 p.m., a non-student called NAUPD with questions regarding social distancing. Information was provided.

April 28

At 7:31 p.m., NAUPD issued a warning to a subject for driving without head lights, driving left of center and unsafe lane movement at South San Francisco Street and McCreary Drive.

April 29

At 7:55 p.m., a student at Gabaldon Hall reported fraudulent schemes and NAUPD responded. The case is now closed.

April 30

At 9:53 a.m., NAUPD received a call from a blue phone at Tinsley Hall. Officers responded and found that there was maintenance being done on the phone. No criminal activity was witnessed.

At 10:15 a.m., a staff member at The Suites called to report finding a weapon. NAUPD responded, and the item was taken into safekeeping by NAUPD.

At 1:05 p.m., a subject reported another subject spray painting on a fence at Mountain View Hall. NAUPD responded, but the subject was gone upon arrival.

At 1:17 p.m., a subject at the School of Informatics, Computing and Cyber Systems called to say they locked themselves in an elevator. NAUPD responded and assistance was provided.

At 3:22 p.m., a staff member at Allen Hall called to report finding medication and a knife. NAUPD responded, and the items were entered into safe keeping. A report was taken for information only.

May 1

At 8:36 a.m., NAUPD reported checking on a subject who was reported missing April 30. The subject was found to be in good health at The Suites and was connected with Terros Health.

At 10:49 a.m., a subject at SkyView apartments reported being stuck in an elevator. NAUPD responded, and the subject was assisted. The elevator appeared to be functioning. However, a work order was placed for issues with the emergency phone.

May 2

At 12:24 a.m., an RA at Campus Heights Apartments called to report the odor of marijuana. NAUPD responded, and one student was criminally deferred for use of marijuana.

May 3

At 11:24 a.m., a non-student called to report a buzzing sound coming from electrical wires at the intersection of East McConnell and Knoles Drive. NAUPD responded and found the situation was not dangerous.

May 4

At 6:31 p.m., FPD transferred a call regarding a reported child abuse at the Drury Inn and Suites. NAUPD responded and took a report. Child Protective Services had already been notified.

May 5

At 2:52 a.m., a non-student called to report a bomb threat at Campus Heights Apartments. NAUPD, FPD, Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD) and Guardian Medical Transport (GMT) responded. No devices were found.

At 12:26 p.m., a non-student called NAUPD and reported credit card fraud. Upon further investigation, it was found that no criminal activity occurred.

May 6

At 4:09 a.m., a custodian called to report a subject in a lounge area at Adel Mathematics. NAUPD responded and found that the person was an employee who had been working late. No criminal activity was witnessed.

May 7

At 8:13 a.m., a staff member called NAUPD to report a threatening email. Officers responded, and information was provided.
