A review of police activity in Flagstaff and NAU

Aug. 12

At 9:10 a.m., a staff member at the University Union called to report that a subject yelling and making suspicious comments. NAUPD responded but no contact was made.

At 10:43 a.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop in parking lot 11. One non-student was booked for aggravated DUI and reckless driving.

At 11:55 a.m., a staff member at the Union Fieldhouse called to report a non-student using student amenities. NAUPD responded and one non-student was booked into Coconino County Detention Facility (CCDF) for failure to provide a truthful name, false reporting to law enforcement, criminal trespass and resisting arrest.

Aug. 13

At 6:22 a.m., a fire alarm was set off at Campus Heights. NAUPD searched the area and found the alarm was caused by burnt food. The Fire Prevention Office was notified.

At 9:44 a.m., a residence hall director at McConnell Hall called to report damage to bathroom stalls. NAUPD responded and took a report.

At 5:32 p.m., FPD transferred a 911 call to NAUPD from the Union. The area was searched but no criminal activity was witnessed.

Aug. 14

At 5:33 a.m., staff at the High Country Conference Center reported a non-student trespassing, but the subject left the area prior to officers’ arrival.

At 11:25 a.m., a staff member at the HLC called to report a male who had passed out in a study room. One non-student was booked into CCDF for trespassing.

At 12:56 p.m., a staff member at lot 3 called to report three subjects making excessive noise. NAUPD responded and three non-students were identified and left the area.

Aug. 15

At 9:50 a.m., a staff member at the Science Lab Facility called to report a suspicious person going into an elevator. NAUPD responded but no contact was made.

At 11:29 a.m., a staff member at Student and Academic Services called to report an unconscious student. The student refused transport to Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC).

At 3:34 p.m., staff at the Science and Health Building called to report the theft of a drill. NAUPD responded and took a report.

Aug. 16

At 7:48 a.m., a construction worker at the Biological Sciences building waved down an officer to report tools being stolen. NAUPD responded and took a report.

At 8:56 a.m., there were multiple calls from an elevator at the Science Annex building. The area was searched by NAUPD but no criminal activity was witnessed. ITS was notified.

At 7:26 p.m., an individual at the Babbitt Administration building called to report someone screaming from a vehicle. NAUPD responded but no contact was made.

At 11:48 p.m, a student at the Ernest Calderon Learning Community requested information in regard to an individual potentially trespassing. Upon NAUPD arrival it was determined that the subject was suicidal. The student was transported to The Guidance Center for a mandatory mental health evaluation.

Aug. 17

At 1:15 p.m., a citation was issued to a driver for driving with a suspended license and for a stop sign violation.

At 5:55 p.m., a student called to report another student had taken pills. NAUPD responded and the patient was transported to FMC.

Aug. 18

At 9:27 a.m., staff at Cline Library received an alarm for a water flow. Officers responded, searched the area and found the alarm was caused by technical difficulties.

At 12:35 p.m. on 122 E. Butler, an officer reported assisting FPD with a weapons violation.

At 1:56 p.m., officers responded to a fire alarm at the University Bookstore. However, they determined there was no fire, and that the alarm was set off by an unknown odor.

At 7:05 p.m., a non-student called to request a welfare check for a non-student at the Performing and Fine Arts building. NAUPD responded but the subject was not in any distress. The non-student left campus.
