A review of police activity in Flagstaff and NAU

Aug. 19

At 11:01 a.m., an officer reported being out with a suspicious vehicle at Knoles Drive and Dupont Avenue. The case remains open pending possible charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotic drugs for a non-student.

At 12:07 p.m., an officer at Wilson Hall called to report vehicles blocking the street. The owners relocated their cars.

At 7:49 p.m., an RA at Gillenwater Hall reported a fire alarm malfunction. The area was searched, and the alarm was caused by equipment errors. Fire Prevention Office was notified of the malfunction.

Aug. 20

At 8:21 a.m., an officer reported finding graffiti on a NAUPD sign located at the NAUPD compound. The officer took a report.

At 2:43 p.m., an unknown student called to report an unconscious student at the Knoles Parking Garage. The student refused transport to FMC.

At 11:33 p.m., a student at the W.A. Franke College of Business requested an escort to South Village Apartments. Assistance was provided.

Aug. 21

At 11:19 a.m., a staff member called to report a non-student sleeping in the Communication building. NAUPD responded and the non-student was warned of trespass and left the area.

At 12:38 p.m., North Hall received a supervisory alarm. The area was searched by an officer and the alarm was found to have been set off by smoke from wildfires in the area.

At 1:26 p.m., a restaurant employee at 1899 Bar and Grill called to report another employee had quit and was upset with managers. An officer responded and took a report. The non-student was given a warning for trespassing.

Aug. 22

At 10:31 a.m., a parent at the University Union Fieldhouse called to report their student’s head pain. The patient was transported to FMC.

At 7:44 p.m., a student called to request assistance in locating a car part at Roseberry Apartments. Assistance was provided.

At 8:45 p.m., an RA called to report the odor of marijuana. One student was criminally deferred for minor in consumption, and three students were criminally deferred for possession of marijuana. One other student is awaiting lab results for possible charges of possession of narcotics.

Aug. 23

At 1:33 p.m., a staff member called to report a lockbox at the HLC that was broken into, and a cabinet with an iPad and keyboard missing. An officer responded and took a report.

At 9:03 p.m., a student at Mountain View Hall called to report a student in possession of narcotics and alcohol. The case is open pending further investigation for possible charges of minor in possession of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotic drugs.

At 10:03 p.m., an RA at McConnell Hall called to report an intoxicated student. The student refused medical transport and will be criminally deferred later.

Aug. 24

At 1:31 a.m., staff reported an unconscious student at the University Union. The student was deferred for minor in consumption of alcohol and transported to FMC.

At 6:33 p.m., a staff member called to report a poorly parked vehicle at the Union. An officer responded, and a parking warning was issued for parking in an unauthorized area.

At 10:36 p.m., NAUPD received a call from a non-student about non-students being in a fight. Officers responded, but subjects left the area prior to the arrival of the officers.

At 11:19 p.m., a staff member requested assistance disposing of garbage at Wilson Hall. Assistance was provided.

Aug. 25

At 1:56 a.m., a student reported another student had made suicidal threats. The student was found to be in good health and was transported to The Guidance Center for a voluntary mental health evaluation. NAU Counseling Services was notified.

At 8:53 a.m., officers contacted an intoxicated non-student. Flagstaff Fire Department and a Guardian Medical Transport were dispatched. The patient was transported to FMC for treatment.

At 7:24 p.m., a university warning was issued at Beaver Street and Franklin Avenue for riding a bicycle at night without a headlight. A headlight combo pack was provided.
