Jan. 8

At 6:58 a.m., a student called to report a subject outside their bedroom. An NAUPD officer responded but couldn’t find anything suspicious.

At 8:09 a.m., Wells Fargo security called to report an ATM alarm at their campus bookstore location. NAUPD responded and searched the area. No criminal activity was witnessed.

At 2:46 p.m., a student called to report the theft of their bicycle. An NAUPD officer responded and took a report. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 9

At 7:02 a.m., an NAU staff member was stopped by NAUPD in parking lot 66. The staff member was cited and released for speeding 20 mph over the posted limit. Another citation was issued for no proof of financial responsibility.

At 8:35 a.m., a staff member called to report theft of items from two offices in the Health Sciences building. An NAUPD officer responded and took a report. All leads were exhausted, and the case was closed.

At 8:43 p.m., a parent called NAUPD to request a welfare check on their child. An NAUPD officer responded to the Hilltop Townhomes. The student was found to be in good health but was with another student that was refusing to leave the student’s residence. The person was warned of trespass from Hilltop.

Jan. 10

At 1:01 p.m., an NAUPD officer initiated a traffic stop in lot 68. One student was cited and released for driving on a suspended license and for speeding.

At 2:59 p.m., a staff member near the Parking Services building called to report a suicidal non-student in the area. NAUPD responded and located the subject in good health.

At 10:15 p.m., a subject called to report a noise complaint in Hilltop Townhomes. An NAUPD officer responded and told the students to quiet down.

Jan. 11

At 9:02 a.m., a Mountain Line Bus called to report finding lost property. A Police Aide responded and collected the lost item. The item was entered into lost and found.

At 8:19 p.m., an NAUPD officer reported being with a vehicle that was parked on a sidewalk near South Village Apartments. The driver was asked to relocate and complied. No criminal activity was witnessed.

At 8:28 p.m., an RA called to report a subject had gone into a dorm, left the sink on and flooded the room in Sechrist Hall. An NAUPD officer responded and took a report. The case was closed as all leads were exhausted.

Jan. 12

At 11:11 a.m., a staff member in Sechrist Hall found another room inundated with water. The flooding is likely related from the Jan. 11 flooding incident. Officers responded to take report. 

At 3:14 p.m., a student called to report an alarm was sounding in McKay Village. The area was searched by NAUPD and they determined that the alarm was caused by burnt food.

At 3:47 p.m., NAUPD received an intrusion alarm in the Biological Sciences building. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a student accidentally set it off. No criminal activity was witnessed, and everything was fine.

Jan. 13

At 9:29 p.m., a subject called to report a non-injury traffic collision at the intersection of Knoles and University drives. NAUPD, FFD and a Guardian Medical Transport ambulance responded to the accident. An NAUPD officer responded and took a report. One driver was issued a citation for speeding and failure to avoid a crash.

At 10:19 p.m., an RA called to report the odor of marijuana. One student was cited and released for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Jan. 14

At 12:08 p.m., a nurse from Northern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault called NAUPD and reported a late case of sexual assault that occurred at an unknown location and an unknown time. The call was only informational and an officer took a report.

At 2:46 p.m., a student called to report theft of clothing and toiletries from their room in Sechrist Hall. An NAUPD officer responded and took a report. The investigation is ongoing.

At 5:53 p.m., NAUPD received a supervisory alarm in Reilly Hall. The area was searched and it was determined the alarm was caused by unknown reasons. NAUPD notified Fire, Life & Safety.
