Oct. 9

At 9:32 p.m., an RA in Pine Ridge Village called to report the odor of marijuana. NAUPD responded and criminally deferred three students for the use of marijuana. Another student was criminally deferred for use of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 10:50 p.m., staff in Reilly Hall called to report the odor of marijuana. NAUPD responded and deferred one student for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The police deferred the second student for use of marijuana.

Oct. 10

At 12:18 a.m., NAUPD received a supervisory alarm from the South Village Apartments. NAUPD responded and searched the area. The alarm was caused by a resident vaping. The student was informed of the campus smoking policies. 

At 8:21 a.m., a staff member from the HLC called to report a student who was sexually assaulted. NAUPD responded and took an informational report.

At 2:37 p.m., a non-student called to report an animal stuck underneath the hood of their truck in parking lot 49. NAUPD and the Arizona Game and Fish Department responded. The animal was located, removed from the vehicle and brought to a shelter.

Oct. 11

At 11:36 a.m., a student called to report being stuck on the third floor of Sechrist Hall in the elevator. FFD and NAUPD responded, and the subject was safely removed from the elevator. Facility Services was notified.

At 11:31 p.m., NAUPD received a supervisory alarm from Campus Heights. NAUPD responded and searched the area. The alarm was caused by smoke from marijuana use, and the student was deferred for possession and use of marijuana.

Oct. 12

At 1:12 a.m., NAUPD initiated a traffic stop near Gabaldon Hall. The student was cited for a stop sign violation, no insurance and no driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

At 9:55 p.m., seven NAUPD officers assisted FPD with an officer-involved shooting at the Hunting Drive Walmart with the incident and follow-up investigation. A man who shot at police was shot and killed by FPD.

At 11:09 p.m., a staff member in Sechrist Hall called to report an unconscious student. NAUPD, FFD and Guardian Medical Transport responded. The student was transported to FMC for treatment. The student was deferred for minor in consumption of alcohol (MIC).

Oct. 13

At 5:09 p.m., an RA in Tinsley Hall called to report the odor of marijuana. NAUPD responded, and one student was cited and released for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

At 7:17 p.m., a staff member at the University Union called to report an intoxicated non-student on campus. NAUPD responded and arrested the non-student for aggravated assault, disturbing the peace, littering and disrupting an educational institution. The non-student was booked into Coconino County Detention Center. The assault and disturbing- the-peace charges occurred off campus at FMC.

Oct. 14

At 12:02 a.m., a staff member in McConnell Hall called to report a student with alcohol and marijuana in their dorm room. NAUPD responded and the student was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia, an MIC, possession of spirituous liquor and fireworks. The student also faced three NAU policy violations for possession of a large knife, BB gun and the firecrackers.

At 5:53 p.m., an RA in Sechrist Hall called to report an intoxicated subject outside of that location. NAUPD, FFD and GMT responded. One student was transported to FMC, and two students were deferred for MICs.

Oct. 15

At 12:27 a.m., a staff member in Reilly Hall reported finding marijuana in a dorm room. NAUPD responded and two students were deferred for an MIC, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and use of marijuana. Another two students were deferred for an MIC, and one student was deferred for an MIC and use of marijuana.

At 1:50 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop near lot 7A. The student was initially cited for driving left of center. The student was also cited and released for an MIC and false reporting to law enforcement.

At 8:07 p.m., an RA in McConnell Hall called to report damage to multiple door placards and an exit sign. NAUPD responded and took a report. Facility Services was notified.
