The COVID-19 pandemic forced all Big Sky Conference fall sports to be postponed until 2021, but an announcement Wednesday morning ended the uncertainty as the conference announced each team’s football schedule.
The season will consist of an eight-week schedule, NAU playing six games with two bye weeks. NAU will begin their season Feb. 28, 2021 at Walkup Skydome against the Montana Grizzlies, an in-conference rival.
With only a six-game schedule, NAU will not have the opportunity to face teams like Idaho, Idaho State, Eastern Washington, Montana State, Sacramento State and UC Davis.
While NAU has not been able to play in any kind of organized game during this postponement period, they have been practicing since late August. With the Big Sky schedule finally released, NAU football can now prepare to face their conference opponents and try to put together a championship campaign.
