After the conclusion of the 2020 virtual NFL Draft, NAU senior quarterback Case Cookus signed with the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent.

Cookus, a California native, graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 2014 before attending Ventura Junior College for one year. Cookus started his four-year career with NAU in 2015 and over his 41 games, Cookus was nothing short of spectacular.

Aside from two injury-riddled seasons in 2016 and 2018, Cookus emerged as a powerful and reliable quarterback for NAU. During his career from 2015-19, Cookus' 892 completions in 1,431 attempts were good for a 62% completion rate. He also threw for an NAU record 105 career touchdowns.

Cookus will graduate from NAU holding the football program's record for passing yards at 12,082 and touchdowns record, according to a Lumberjack article. After a stellar career with NAU, Cookus will look to take on the pros and replicate his success. He is the most recent NAU football player to join the NFL since NAU alumnus wide receiver Emmanuel Butler signed with the New Orlean Saints in 2019.
