Graduate: Alec Boyce
“Alec Boyce is from Poway, California and graduated from Poway High School. He then went on to pursue a degree at NAU in mechanical engineering, graduating Nov. 22. His passion is the automotive industry and hopes to design new vehicles or work in the automotive industry. Alec loves the outdoors and enjoys snowboarding, hiking, riding quads in the desert and watching football. Cheers to you Alec, we are very proud of you! Love, Mom and Dad.”
Graduate: Mariah Carmichael
“Mariah, you set your sights high from the get-go. Early on, we knew you were going to take advantage of every opportunity that came your way. Pursuit of a double major in biomedicine and Spanish with a minor in chemistry, all set within the honors program, would have been challenging enough. But you also set your sights on study abroad, and through your diligent efforts, landed in Zaragoza, Spain, immersed in their university with an internship in the university hospital.
“You have been faced with numerous obstacles and challenges along the way, and at every turn you have persevered and discovered an inner strength, resolve and dedication. No one planned or anticipated the impact of COVID, which totally disrupted your second semester in Spain. Nevertheless, you responded with strength and resilience and have grown immensely for having gone through the challenge. ‘Make your plans, and hold them loosely.’
“Right now, your plans are to take a gap year, earn some practical experience working with patients and then pursue an advanced degree as a physician’s assistant.
“We are incredibly proud of you and are excited to see where God takes you in your next season. We love you, Mom and Dad.”
Graduate: Nicole Kelly
“Nicole’s hard work and determination has helped her graduate a semester early. She will graduate from the [College of] Social and Behavioral Sciences magna cum laude with a [bachelor’s degree] in political science and a minor in crime and criminology. She has always been focused on her education and NAU has been a great place for her. She has become a kind, caring and strong woman who can do anything she sets her mind to. We are so proud of her and all of her accomplishments.”
Graduate: Alexis Lopez
“Alexis, we just want you to know how very proud we are of you. Your hard work, dedication and drive are incredible. Congratulations on all your success thus far. May God continue to bless you in all you set out to do. Love always, Mom, Dad, the Boys and Marissa.”
Graduate: Bailee Proud
“Bailee, you have exceeded every expectation I have ever had for you. I am so beyond proud of all of your accomplishments and the woman you have become. I’m sorry you are not going to have the opportunity to walk across the stage and receive your college degree. You are going to do amazing things in this world and I can’t wait to watch you become everything you have ever dreamed of being. We love you so much, Mama, Tatum and Zakery.”
Graduate: Travis Seideman
“Travis is graduating with a [bachelor’s degree] in biomedical science. While at NAU, he enjoyed being the co-founder and co-chair of the NAU Powerlifting Club. After graduation, he plans to pursue medical school.
“Travis, we are so proud of you! You have passionately pursued your dreams and we are excited for the opportunities ahead — Mom and Dad.
“I am so proud of your accomplishments and so excited to see where life takes you — Tina.”
Graduate: Emma Wolff
“Congratulations to our Lumberjack, Emma Wolff, graduating with degrees in strategic communication and public relations. To say that we are proud of your accomplishments is an understatement. When you were a sophomore in high school, you proudly exclaimed that NAU was your ‘dream’ school. From that point forward, you worked diligently to get the Lumberjack scholarship and secure your place at NAU. We have loved living vicariously through you. Thank you for not being too embarrassed of your hover-parents as we snuck into the NAU Said Yes orientations you were facilitating!
“Over the last three and a half years in Flagstaff, you have lived life to the fullest and taken every opportunity to create an amazing experience for yourself. From your time as a True Blue Ambassador and your internships in sports marketing and [public relations] to your two degrees, 4.0 GPA, Gold Axe Award and summa cum laude honors, there is nothing you haven’t been able to achieve. Although 2020 has thrown us a curveball and dampened our celebration opportunities, it does not diminish your success or our pride in any way. We know the future is bright and full of amazing things for a girl like you who is smart, hard-working, optimistic, kind and gorgeous. We cannot wait to watch the ultimate ‘Emma Nicole Wolff Show’ and bask in the episodes that have yet to be written. You have given us 21 years of bragging rights and we love you more than you will ever know. Knock ‘em dead, kiddo!”
