You should’ve seen the snow.
It came down swiftly and with intention
as if it were in some sort of hurry to envelop the world below
in a delicate blanket of white lace.
It descended all around as I ran
miles and miles on a machine
protected from the flurries by a layer of glass.
I think you would’ve found it amusing
the way it danced on each gust of wind.
Stride after stride I ran
inside my own personal snow globe
a pocket of peace amidst the chaos outside
timing my breath with the silent rhythm of the storm.
Although I tried my best to focus
I couldn’t help but think of you and how
you should’ve seen the snow.
