Police Beat Sept. 13-19: Breath mints or pills?

Sept. 13

At 1:20 p.m., a Honors College resident requested medical assistance for their roommate. NAUPD, Flagstaff Fire Department (FFD) and Guardian Medical Transport (GMT) responded, and the student was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center (FMC) for a preexisting condition.

At 3:05 p.m., a Reilly Hall RA reported a bag of pills taped to a student’s door. NAUPD responded and confirmed the pills were breath mints. 

At 8:55 p.m., a RA reported the sound of someone screaming in lot 41. An officer responded but heard no screaming.

At 9:43 p.m., a Mountain View Hall resident reported theft by extortion and unlawful distribution of images. NAUPD responded and took a report. 

Sept. 14

At 12:18 p.m., a staff member reported a student who fell off a skateboard in lot 16. NAUPD, FFD and GMT responded, but the student refused medical transport.

At 2:07 p.m., several students reported a student on a skateboard had been struck by a vehicle off campus. NAUPD, FPD, FFD and GMT responded, and the student was transported to FMC. 

At 6:48 p.m., NAUPD reported attempting to serve documents to a Tinsley Hall resident. 

Sept. 15

At 12:04 p.m., NAUPD reported assisting FPD off campus, at the intersection of Lake Mary Road and High Country Trail, in an attempt to find a suspect in a road rage incident.

At 4:11 p.m., a Tinsley Hall RA reported damage to a light and room placard. NAUPD responded and took a report. 

At 6:16 p.m., a NAU bus driver reported a disabled bus blocking the intersection of South San Francisco Street and Pine Knoll Drive, in addition to needing help with traffic control. NAUPD and University Safety Aides responded to provide assistance.

Sept. 16

At 8:49 a.m., a Student and Academic Services staff member reported a suspicious person and possible theft. NAUPD responded and witnessed no criminal activity. 

At 12:55 p.m., a student reported an assault by another student in the Engineering building. NAUPD responded and observed no criminal activity. 

At 2:16 p.m., a South Village Apartments resident reported a private property accident. NAUPD responded and took a report. 

At 10:39 p.m., NAUPD reported seeing a vehicle driving erratically off campus, but was unsuccessful in making contact. Information was passed to FPD. 

Sept. 17

At 12:18 a.m., a Tinsley Hall RA requested assistance for a student who fell out of their loft bed. NAUPD, FFD and GMT responded  and the student was transported to FMC. 

At 8:02 a.m., a Geology Annex staff member reported finding personal property. NAUPD responded and took it for safekeeping.

At 7:30 p.m., a South Village Apartments resident reported the odor of gas. NAUPD responded and found no leak was present. Facility Services was notified.

Sept. 18

At 1:27 a.m., a McConnell Hall staff member reported damage to an exit sign. NAUPD responded and took a report. 

At 2:21 p.m., a nonstudent reported they lost a wallet in San Francisco Parking Garage. NAUPD responded and took a report. 

At 8:20 p.m., a Cowden Hall RA reported a fire alarm going off. NAUPD responded and disabled the alarm. 

Sept. 19

At 2:26 a.m., NAUPD investigated a report of an  occupied vehicle in the San Francisco Parking Garage. Two students were deferred for minor in consumption of alcohol. 

At 2:56 a.m., while on a traffic stop, NAUPD reported a drug offense in lot 68. Three students were referred for use of marijuana and the driver was issued a citation for speed.

At 4:26 p.m., an employee reported three nonstudents climbing Walkup Skydome. NAUPD responded and warned the subjects of trespassing.

At 9:19 p.m., a student reported the sound of someone shouting near The Suites. NAUPD responded, heard no shouting and witnessed no criminal activity.
