NAU reached deep into the transfer portal to grab a former Pepperdine center in Carson Basham. Basham, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, will join a Lumberjacks squad in need of a big center.
Basham measures in at 6 '10, which will make him one of the tallest players on the roster next season. The former AZ Compass Prep product averaged 5.9 points and 3.3 rebounds in his two years at Pepperdine.ย
Size was something NAU needed desperately going into next season with the loss of Nik Mains. This pickup means redshirt junior forward Carson Towt can move to the power forward position and Basham can compete with redshirt senior center Ezekiel Richards for the starting center spot.
This move will also mean head coach Shane Burcar can work around the loss of junior guard Jalen Cone and focus on running the offense either through soon-to-be sophomore guard Oakland Fort or Towt.ย
Of course we have yet to see next yearโs commits in action yet, so anything can happen in terms of the roster. More news on NAU's roster and commitmentsย will be released as they become available.
